This APCCA Level 1 introduction course is for anyone who wants to develop their creativity, self-awareness, improve their wellbeing and discover how powerful creative arts practice can be. You will develop your understanding of the relevance of creativity to mental health and wellbeing and of its benefit to the therapeuetic process. 

This course is an ideal first step to training on our Level 2 certificate course. 

On this course participants will;

Explore the importance of creativity 
Learn about the person-centred approach to creative arts practice
Engage with experiential learning 
Develop self-awareness
Develop creativity and confidence
Develop understanding of the relevance of creativity to the therapeutic process
Participants will receive a CPD certificate of attendance for 10 hours.

The course contains a combination of experiential work, theory, discussion, and creative arts practice. Materials will be provided on the day but participants will need to have available the following for home study activities:

 - Art materials, ideally a set of basic paints, pastels, pencils and paper

- Access to the internet

Course Tutors:

This one day course will be held in Penwortham, Preston and is hosted by Fleur and Charlotte Farish-Edwards (Two Birds Therapy) for APCCA.

Fleur is an experienced counsellor and supervisor of over 10 years. She is also a university lecturer in counselling and psychotherapy.

Charlotte worked as a secondary school English teacher for almost 18 years. She is now undertaking study to become qualified as a counsellor.

Fleur and Charlotte are both Practitioner Members of the Association for Person Centred Creative Arts (APCCA ) and are members of the APCCA Board. As Two Birds Therapy, Fleur and Charlotte hold monthly creative therapeutic workshops at Galloways, Penwortham.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be good at art?

Not at all! The workshop is about the creative process and our aim to help you let go of any self criticism you may have about what you create.

Do I need to buy art materials?

We will provide materials on the day, but you will need to have some art materials for working on the home study tasks. You will need basic materials such as a journal, and paper, pens, paint or an iPad, along with access to the internet.

How large will the group be?

The group will be limited to a maximum of fifteen participants to allow for a supportive learning experience.

Will you provide refreshments?

We will provide tea, coffee and biscuits/fruit. Please bring your own lunch, there is a fridge if needed.
